SUMMARY:Holy Thursday - Potluck & Foot Washing Service
DESCRIPTION: I give you a new commandment\, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you\, you also should love one another.  \nJoin us for a family potluck meal and service. Maundy Thursday\, or Holy Thursday\, gets its name from the Latin translation of John 13:34: “I give you a new commandment” (or\, in Latin\, “Mandatum novum“). It was as Jesus washed the feet of his friends and followers that he said these words. \nWe’ll share a meal together. Then\, Dan Archibald will tell the story of how Jesus washed his disciples’ feet before they shared their last meal together. Next\, we’ll take part in a simple Communion: commemorating this last meal by sharing bread and wine at our tables. Following this\, the children will lead the way in washing the feet of those in attendance. We’ll finish with a final prayer before ending our time together. \nJoin us at 6 PM in the chapel at Reservoir Church. Please bring a dish to share. Children are most welcome.

DESCRIPTION:Come join Arianne Graham for 60 minutes of moving meditation in the form of hatha yoga\, relaxation breathing\, and meditation. \nAll levels welcome and no experience required. Please bring a mat\, a blanket\, and any other props you may have. We have a few extra. More information here. \nMany people have experienced positive benefits from the regular practice of yoga\, such as general well-being\, increased awareness\, strength and flexibility\, and a peaceful mind and spirit. The primary purpose of “asana” (yoga postures) is to prepare the physical body for long periods of prayer and meditation. It is my hope that you would experience benefits that leave you feeling relaxed\, comfortable\, and strong. Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!” \n\nDuring our regular Sunday services on March 25\, 2018 at 9:30 and 11:30 AM\, we’ll be remembering what followers of Jesus have called “Palm Sunday”. We’ll commemorate Jesus’ warm reception into Jerusalem by the very people who would days later call for his execution by the state. We’ll echo this warm reception by the waving of palm branches — a centuries-old Palm Sunday tradition.

DESCRIPTION:As part of our current series on sin and redemption\, we will be holding a special service we’re calling “Speak Out Sunday.” This will be an opportunity for our church to speak about the very important topic of sexual violence – its prevalence in our society and in our scriptures\, and our desire to heal from our own past experiences of it and have no place for it in our future. \nThe service will include a personal story from a trained speaker\, a sermon from Steve\, and extensive resources from professional organizations. DESCRIPTION:Our Christmas season begins on Sunday\, December 3rd\, with a participatory liturgy which will invite you to hear the story of Christmas afresh\, using some of the same curriculum we use with our children at Reservoir. We will also invite you to engage with the story and find yourself in it. We’ll have services as usual at both 9:30 and 11:30\, with children’s programming at 9:30. But expect services on December 3rd to invite you into reflection and worship in a whole different way\, much as we did in last year’s Advent participatory liturgy of lament and hope.
