Citizens Bank currently serves as the primary financial broker for CoreCivic and the GEO Group, two private prison corporations that together operate more than half of ICE’s detention beds. Conditions in these facilities have been widely documented. While most major banks ended their financial ties to these companies in 2019, Citizens has continued—and expanded—its involvement.

GBIO is organizing our community to tell Citizens Bank that we won’t stand behind institutions that facilitate these human rights abuses, especially those that seek to profit off the industry of ripping families and communities apart. We have already identified more than $8 million of deposits from members of GBIO institutions and are looking for more pledges to withdraw deposits from Citizens Bank if they ignore our demands.
