Call Your State Representative – The Time for Criminal Justice Reform is Now!

November 1, 2017

Reservoir Church is working with Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO) to lobby the State House to pass strong legislation on Criminal Justice Reform. The Senate passed a strong, veto-proof bill on Thursday, October 26 (the bill passed 27-10). The bill didn’t go quite as far as we wanted to eliminate mandatory minimums, but it’s still a strong bill. It’s time to call and thank our Senators for their work.

The House is writing and voting on a bill in November. Between now and November 13, we need 80 people in the Reservoir community to call their State Representative and ask her/him to vote for a strong bill in the House.

We are asking our Reps to support a strong criminal justice bill that includes eliminating mandatory minimums, reducing excessive fees and fines, reforming the pre-trial bail process, and reducing the use of and time spent in solitary confinement.

Everything you need to call your rep can be found here: enter your address and Reservoir as your congregation, get your Rep’s name and a script for the call, and you’ll be directly connected to your State Representative’s office. Afterwards, please note the outcome of your call here on this Google Form.
